Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) forms part of the Terms & Conditions of Service for GT Networks. It applies to all customers and users of our hosting, networking, cloud and managed IT services.

By using our services, you agree to comply with this policy.


1. Purpose

This policy is designed to protect our customers, infrastructure and the wider internet from misuse, abuse and illegal activity.

We reserve the right to investigate any suspected breach of this policy.


2. Lawful Use

You must only use our services for lawful purposes.

You must not use our services to violate any applicable laws or regulations in the United Kingdom or any other relevant jurisdiction.


3. Prohibited Activities

You must not use our services to:

  • Commit or facilitate criminal offences.

  • Distribute malware, ransomware, viruses or malicious software.

  • Attempt unauthorised access to computers, servers, websites or networks.

  • Perform hacking, penetration testing or vulnerability scanning without written permission from the system owner.

  • Conduct phishing or impersonation attacks.

  • Send unsolicited bulk email (spam).

  • Operate fraudulent or deceptive websites.

  • Distribute pirated software or copyrighted material without permission.

  • Host or distribute illegal content.

  • Promote or facilitate unlawful activity.

  • Interfere with the operation of other networks or internet services.

  • Abuse shared infrastructure or consume unreasonable system resources.


4. Network Abuse

Customers must not intentionally:

  • Launch denial-of-service (DoS) or distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks.

  • Interfere with network performance.

  • Circumvent security controls.

  • Exploit vulnerabilities affecting GT Networks or third-party systems.

Any activity that threatens the stability or security of our network may result in immediate suspension.


5. Email Services

Where email services are provided, customers must not:

  • Send unsolicited commercial email.

  • Use purchased or harvested mailing lists.

  • Forge email headers.

  • Misrepresent the sender.

  • Operate open mail relays.

Customers are responsible for ensuring their mailing practices comply with applicable legislation.


6. Hosting Content

Customers are solely responsible for the content they upload or publish.

Content must not include:

  • Illegal material.

  • Copyright-infringing content.

  • Material promoting violence or criminal activity.

  • Fraudulent or misleading content.

  • Malware or malicious code.

  • Content intended to compromise computer security.


7. Resource Usage

Customers must use shared services responsibly.

Activities that may be restricted include:

  • Excessive CPU usage.

  • Excessive memory consumption.

  • Excessive disk I/O.

  • Cryptocurrency mining.

  • Automated processes that negatively affect other customers.

  • Services that significantly degrade platform performance.

Where practical, we will contact customers to resolve excessive usage before taking action.


8. Security Responsibilities

Customers are responsible for:

  • Keeping passwords secure.

  • Using strong authentication.

  • Updating software where they manage their own systems.

  • Maintaining appropriate backups unless a managed backup service has been purchased.

  • Reporting suspected security incidents promptly.


9. Monitoring & Enforcement

To protect our infrastructure and customers, we may monitor service usage where necessary for operational, security or legal reasons.

Where we reasonably believe this policy has been breached, we may:

  • Issue a warning.

  • Suspend services.

  • Restrict access.

  • Remove harmful content where legally permitted.

  • Terminate services.

  • Report unlawful activity to the relevant authorities.

Serious or illegal activity may result in immediate suspension without prior notice.


10. Reporting Abuse

If you believe our services are being used in breach of this policy, please contact GT Networks with as much information as possible, including dates, times and any relevant evidence.

We investigate all credible reports and will take appropriate action where necessary.


11. Changes to this Policy

We may amend this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time.

The latest version will always be published on our website and will take effect from the date of publication.
